A couple of days ago I got a letter from Claremont School of Theology. It informed me that the faculty of Claremont School of Theology have unanimously selected me to be the recipient of the Bishop Charles Golden Award for the outstanding academic achievements and the commitment to social justice.
I’ve learned that Bishop Golden, the only African-American bishop to serve the California-Pacific Conference of the United Methodist Church, was committed to multicultural ministries and appointed clergy of all ethnic groups to a variety of positions. This award in his memory and honor was established to benefit ethnic minority.
I am deeply honored with this award. I sincerely appreciate President Jeffrey Kuan and the entire faculty of CST. I would like to make a special thanks to my committee, Dr. Philip Clayton, Dr. John B. Cobb Jr. and Dr. Andrew Schwartz. I will keep doing my best to live out as I was commissioned with this award.
